HOME PATIENTS TREATMENT OPTIONS IN-CENTER DIALYSIS

In-Center Dialysis

Hemodialysis
"Heme" refers to blood. Hemodialysis is the process that balances blood chemistry and filters waste and fluids from the blood. The blood is pumped by a dialysis machine and travels outside the body via tubing and passes through a filter called a "dialyzer" or "artificial kidney." The dialyzer cleans the blood before it is returned to the body. This option is typically performed three days per week for several hours per treatment at a dialysis center.
